ADDICTION:not always drugs
I went for a couple of drinks last night with a very good friend of mine that I've not seen in a while(1 year). Asked him how he was doing and he said that he was trying to ween himself off the suboxume(if that's how you spell it). It is a drug that herion addicts use to keep from using herion again. My question is....If you have to stay on one drug to get off another, are you not still addicted to drugs? He has a girlfriend that he met in rehab. and they live together in a house that his mom owns. The bank took his half million dollar house on a lake with an olympic sized indoor heated swimming pool. He refied that house twice to get $60,000.00 worth of oxy 80. For those of you who do not know drug lingo----oxycontin 80mg-----the most powerful of the oxycontin. Oxy is a synthetic herion, use it and your a dead man, it just takes a few years. My friends are all athletic looking and you would never guess that my friend has an oxy problem. All my friends also have addictive personalities, which is why my buddy is going out with a girl he met at rehab who was there for alcoholism. By the way, she still drinks like hell and is eventually going to have my friend locked up, because when she drinks(every night), she gets violent. But he will not leave her, because as much trouble as she is, he loves her. aka: addicted to her. So....here I sit waiting for one more of my friends to do jail time. That will leave me with one friend who is not in jail or dead. I can offer my buddy advice, but I can not make him take it, ultimately he will do what he wants to do, wether it is logical or not. Lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it. What I need to do, is find a good girl and marry her, but.....where the hell is she? That's the real question.......but that's a whole different blog.
